Family Fun - Costa del Golf
With more than 70 impressive courses on the Costa del Sol, it's no wonder it's often referred to as the 'Costa del Golf'...
Over the years, golf has gradually become somewhat of a cool sport enjoyed by people of all ages. Once the preserve of middle-aged men and seen as a slightly snooty and stuffy game, players such as Tiger Woods, Sergio García and Rory McIlroy have dragged golf into the modern era with their super sleek threads, athletically trim bodies, supermodel girlfriends and multi-million dollar sponsorship deals. Nowadays it seems, everybody loves golf.
And one of the best places in the world to enjoy this now very trendy game is the Costa del Sol, aka, the Costa del Golf. The proliferation of golf courses on the Coast (there are more than 70) and the incredible climate have been attracting golfers to the region for years, and the players keep arriving in significant numbers, beckoned by not just the sun and the immaculate courses but everything else that the region has to offer away from the fairways and greens.
Every single area on the Costa del Sol has at least one golf course close to it so being able to find a local club to join is not a problem. The Coast is home to a number of golf societies too, so if you’re a newcomer to the area and lack a few golfing buddies, joining a society can be a great way to make new friends and meet other golfers to tee-off with. Under the deep blue of the Mediterranean sky and a lush green fairway stretching out in front of you… well, a golf course can be one of the most beautiful places on earth to while away a few hours.
