The Andalusian gem of Seville is Spain’s most affordable city for expats, a new study has found.

It is rare to come across bonafide things that are “too good to be true”. Perhaps the occasional double-take deal in the supermarket; or an unexpected windfall from a long-lost article, but generally value and reality are fairly squared – or in other words, you get what you pay for…

But a recent study by Telegraph Financial Services has delivered a startling piece of news that really does sound too good to be true.

According to the newspaper’s latest survey, Seville is one of the cheapest places for expats to live in Europe.

Yes, THAT Seville – the warmest city in Europe, the golden gem of Andalucía, the backdrop for many a Game of Thrones scene, the spiritual home of Flamenco, and the place to head to for excellent tapas, nightlife and historical sights.

Around a 3-hour hour drive from the Costa del Sol, Seville is not quite commutable for people who already live on the coast, but as the city becomes more international, a growing number of expats are choosing to live there.

The study found that this is not a bad idea if you’re looking to live affordably: dinner for two in Seville averages a mere €19, reaching a still-reasonable €37 in higher-end establishments. The rent for a studio flat in the centre of the city is just €400, while property prices remain below the national average.

Additional benefits include an extremely high standard of living and, while the summer months may prove too unbearable for those who do not like intense heat, the city’s climate is among the most wonderful on the continent.

So for those who fancy something a little different from the norm, then Seville certainly ticks a lot of boxes…
