Swapping Britain’s torrential rain for the sun-drenched Costa del Sol, coaches Stuart Pearce and Hope Powell brought their respective teams to a week-long football training camp at La Cala Resort for some 5-star preparation at what is Spain’s largest golf resort and one of the leading residential and recreational estates in Europe.

A low density development perfect for lovers of nature, tranquillity, privacy and infinite space, ultimately La Cala Resort – which annually welcomes more than 100,000 golfers – will comprise 2,500 exclusive homes. And with its onsite hotel, spa, clubhouse, two restaurants, plus tennis, padel tennis, squash, and of course its top-class football training facilities, it’s a firm favourite with high profile football teams from Europe and South America.

Captained by Ryan Giggs, Team GB are taking on Senegal, UAE and Urugay in the London 2012 Olympics, while the first ever women’s Olympic football squad to represent Great Britain and skippered by Casey Stoner, face New Zealand, Cameroon and Brazil.
