Today we thought we’d let you know some of the best Costa del Sol photos you can expect to take this festive season. The Coast is blessed with great photo opportunities at every turn, but here are five of our highlights for this Christmas…

Christmas lights in Málaga

5 Costa del Sol photos you must take this Christmas

As mentioned in a previous blog post, the Málaga Christmas lights are a must-see for any resident on the Costa del Sol over the festive period. This year the city council has invested even more to get visitors into the festive spirit, with light shows accompanied by music and various other short performances between now and 6th January (known in Spain as Three Kings Day).

Sierra Nevada

OK, so the famous ski slopes are technically not the Costa del Sol, but being no more than a 90-minute drive from Málaga means Granada’s legendary pistes are virtually on the doorstep. This means the location is perfect even for a day’s skiing or snowboarding and then returning to the Mediterranean coast in the evening.

La Concha, taken from Puerto Banús or western Marbella

The iconic view of La Concha mountain from either Marbella or Puerto Banús, like the photo at the top of this post, is spectacular all year round. If you take a walk along the extensive seafront promenade, there are several spots that are ideal for capturing a great composition. Although you are not guaranteed to get the snow-topped peaks you see in the photo above, this snap was taken in January last year and was a social media sensation due to how rarely it is seen given the municipality’s much-famed, warm micro-climate.

Christmas Village at El Corte Inglés, Málaga

Fun for all the family, El Corte Inglés – the leading Spanish department store – in Málaga puts on a range of different yuletide activities at this time of year, including a toboggan, carousel ride, Christmas train, small Ferris wheel and 525 square-metre ice skating rink. The latter is especially popular with young people and is open from 10am to 10pm every day until 7th January, costing just six euros for equipment hire. Well worth a trip down!

Christmas Markets (various locations)

They might not have anything on the Christmas markets in Munich, for example, but several towns along the Costa del Sol are celebrating the festive season with a winter fair area dedicated to the sale of Christmas gifts, handmade products and various other stalls selling food and drink.

Málaga, Arroyo de la Miel (Benalmádena), Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Puerto Banús and Estepona all have their offerings, and photos like this one (from Estepona) are a great keepsake after an enjoyable family evening out.
